My careers advisor in high school.
When I said “I think I want to do something with computers” she said “have you heard of Microsoft?”
Then she wrote Microsoft on a piece of paper and slid it across the table and that was my careers interview over.
Still better than the career counselor who told me not to go into IT because “women are sexually harassed there” and said to pick a “woman friendly” career.
Said career counselor was a woman with feminist leanings.
weird and horrible how as soon as a girl turns 18 she loses any protection from being taken advantage of… 17 and a half is a child but just turned 18 is fair game for male sexual predators
the fact that men think an 18 year old girl has all the wisdom and capabilities of an adult woman is bad, but it’s particularly barf-worthy to realize that they don’t actually think 18 is the line between a girl and a woman. it’s only the law that says that. men think a girl is ready to become a woman and do things women do as soon as she “looks” like a woman or begins to imitate women. male sexuality is inherently wack and we are failing girls by exposing them to it.
This is the kind of rhetoric that makes modern day “feminism” toxic to women. The idea that women are so weak and vulnerable, or that men are so inherently dangerous, to the point where legal protection would be required. First of all this would never be enforceable because it goes directly against biology. To take away a woman’s choice to have sex with whomever she wants by 18 (which by the way, is one of the older ages of consent in industrialized nations) is honestly so anti-feminism. And yeah no one is going to be as wise and capable of making good decisions at 18 as they will be when they’re older but to say they lack the decision making skills necessary to consent to sex by 18 is absurd. What a dystopian scenario–not having bodily autonomy, even by 18.
And at least girls who are preyed on by men have that protection. BOYS DO NOT. Boys are seen as sexual beings even when they are children. Women can catcall and rape little boys and it’s not seen as a big deal. In fact the WOMAN is portrayed as the victim because “all boys want sex”!
And don’t even get me started on what happens to girls who are preyed on by women because they get even LESS protection than boys. The Vagina Monologues had a scene where a 13 year old girl was raped by a grown woman, and it was portrayed as a POSITIVE thing because it “cured her” from men.
Let’s face it, y’all only care about young people being sexually abused when the victim is a woman and the aggressor is a man. Any other sexual grooming is a joke to you.

I’m South Asian and I read the original book when I was 10 and loved it. This movie isn’t bad because it racebent the characters (although that IS a problem because it implies that you can’t make a new fantasy novel with Black characters, you have to piggyback on a current White property). It’s bad because it was a horrible book adaptation and took most of the love and charm from the book, turning it into a dull mess.
My brother saved this document and everytime he gets angry at our neighbours for being loud he prints it to their wireless printer and you can hear the wife shout “Why the fuck would you print this AGAIN?!” to her son.
