Living in America is like living in an abusive relationship with someone who could hit you at any moment for seemingly no reason, except you don’t know what they look like and they own a gun.

Then leave. That’s the same solution for domestic violence. Just leave.

I have never read a more stupid reply in my life

Do you understand that when people try to leave domestically abusive relationships, they are often under threat of death/harm because their partner wants to control them? You don’t leave a situation in which you are literally being controlled/manipulated, it’s nearly impossible to leave?

Are you suggesting that your abusive partner, America, won’t let you leave? I promise you, you are more than welcome too. We have no laws against it. I think you might need a passport but that isn’t hard to get. Then it’s just an airline ticket or a bus ticket for Mexico or Canada. I’m sure someone will take you.

Do you know why people in abusive relationships stay in abusive relationships, jjaarrr? I do, because I’ve been in an abusive relationship. Often it’s because they have nowhere else to go, nobody they can turn to, or at the least nobody they feel they can turn to. They’re trapped. So that’s one ignorant comment you’ve made so far.

Do you happen to know, also, how difficult it is to become a legal resident of another country? I promise you, it’s a lot more complicated than just getting a passport and a ticket out of town. “Just leave” isn’t viable when you’re talking about asking another country to let you live there – even if you’re claiming asylum, the process can take months – years, even – and is seldom cheap.

Congratulations, you’re batting 0 for 2 so far.

You seem to be advocating for people to stay in an abusive relationship. The two choices are stay or leave. Pick one.

Venezuela. Cuba. North Korea. Mexico. China. Canada. I’m sure they will take you. Some may take longer than others but the sooner you get started, the faster you will be out of your abusive relationship with America.

As to my response being ignorant, you made the ridiculous comparison. Were you just counting on people giving you attention and sympathy as some sort of victim? Again, if it is that abusive here, then leave. Hard or easy, you have two choices. Stay or go. Your choice. It’s called freedom.

It’s almost like this was a stupid analogy in the first place.

It’s not only stupid, it’s insulting. OP is victimizing literally everyone by virtue of being American and it’s not only how it DEFINITELY doesn’t work, it’s also REALLY fucking stupid to compare it to domestic abuse in the first place. Implying that people are inherently helpless and dumb to realize whatever fake victimization value you give this country will also piss off a lot of people.

Guess what, OP? You can still get mugged, stabbed, and/or fucked over by the government in England. You can get beat up and actively discriminated against in every balkan country. By your logic we’re all domestic violence victims. Why stop at America for your Woke™ points?

Tumblr: is insanely notoriously lax in enforcing their own rules regarding harassment, violation of privacy, spambots, and child porn

US Government: hey man there’s like, 100 accounts we THINK are linked to this Russian org-

Tumblr: ok, got it [annhilates about 100 accounts in like 2 seconds and has a whole press release about it] ok, all done. now we will never have to do anything ever again

NCMEC: Uhhhhh. There’s. There’s a lot of child pornography here. A lot that hasn’t been entered into our database like we’ve asked you to.

Google and Apple: What the fuck? The mobile app’s off our store front, this is disgusting.

Tumblr: OH FUCK UHHHHHH. UH. [Makes an automated process to delete the offending blogs along with the spambots.] OK OK GOOD GOOD THAT SHOULD BE FINE- [The automated process starts deleting EVERYONE] -SHIT. SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT.

Tumblr Users: hey, can you delete this person that’s been threatening to kill me?

For the record, the guy actually invented this with the intent of it being used to crack down on human trafficking. Traffickers often cover their victims in heavy/unusual makeup before posting pics of them online, to make them harder to detect using normal software.

oh

So basically this is a case of really shitty reporting. The article could have been about an app used to rescue victims of trafficking but they decided to flippantly make it about make-up

JK Rowling: Hmm you know what would be not at all weird and homophobic? If I took my only gay protagonist and said he was the ex boyfriend of Mr. Genocide McFascist.

That’s… not a new thing? The two were literally exes all along. It’s probably a big part of what made Dumbledore as fucked up as he is, that the man he loved went full dark side and Albus had to put him down personally For the Greater Good.

Also now that I think about it, another major parallel between Dumbledore and Ozpin…
