I really, really don’t get why people think being trans is so appealing.
And that’s the whole reason transtrenders exist, isn’t it? People find being trans somehow appealing and want in on that without actually experiencing what we experience.
And that baffles me. As I’ve said a billion times before, being trans is not fun. At all. Even aside from the basic dysphoric troubles, there’s social ostracization, loss of friends, a constant threat of violence against you, doctors, insurance, problems with landing a decent job and so, so much more. Who would want that? Why would anyone want that?
A lot of these people are teenagers. Maybe that’s part of the answer. They don’t understand what being an adult is like and how being trans can negatively impact that.
Maybe it’s part of living in a more accepting society and the desire to be a part of something bigger? Wanting extra attention? Hell if I know.
I remember how scared I was when I first realized I was trans. I tried to run away from it for several years. I did everything I could to deny that I needed to transition in order to keep my sanity. And again, I live in a much more hostile environment. Being trans is outright dangerous here. But that wasn’t the whole reason! Transitioning is scary in and on itself, not to mention how it fucks up your life even in the most accepting of societies.
I don’t know what I’m rambling about, really. I’m just trying to understand it. Trying to wrap my head around it.
I would give a lot to be born just a cis girl. My life would be mine. I never would’ve missed out on what I eventually did. I have so many regrets, it’s insane.
…
Anyone else has any thoughts?
I think trenders picked up being trans is because no one has really any solid tests besides an MRI to ‘prove’ transness. And unlike being gay which most people understand and can pick up if you say ur a lesbian but you only date men that ur probably lying for attention. But you can just say your trans and no one can really call u out on ur bullshit without being labelled a transphobe.
That’s a good theory
– fetishism
– identity crisis
– mistaken dysmorphia or other body image issues
– social pressures from online communities like Tumblr
– right to speak on trans issues and other social justice topics relating to oppression without backlash
– pressure from being gender non conforming or LGB
– want to fit in with friends who are trans
– “I wonder what’d be like to be the other gender for a day” / “I wish I could switch genders/appearance at will and become like a different person”
– curious what it’d be like
– stories commending trans and other LGBT people for their bravery coming out
– compelling fictional stories about teens rising above extreme oppression in futuristic/fantastical dystopian societies and fighting against the government
– limited information about being transgender and what that entails and what dysphoria is like and how to cope with it and how to know if you’re trans
– “cis people don’t get to have opinions” > cis people hating themselves and wanting to have opinions > cis people trying to convince themselves that they’re trans and taking over trans spaces and misusing important language
okay so I’ve seen a lot of artists, including myself, make this common mistake of coloring the palm of a hand(and the sole of a foot) as the same color as the person’s skin tone.
but in fact ,palms and soles are a different color compare to our skin
this is due to the lack of Melanin on them
hope this helps!
Don’t put this fucking whitewashing bullshit on my feed
Huh???????????
IM SCREAMING
LMFAOOOOO
local tumblr user accidentally reveals they have never seen a black person
I was like “wait is this specifically about antis in the Voltron fandom?”
*Googles*
“Oh no, seems to just be about fandom in general.”
*clicks links*
“Oh damn.”
This is… a really great article. They even link to a few tumblr blogs
Anti arguments may shift over time,
but the critical thing to note is 1) competing popular pairings
(pairings that share characters with the anti-favored pairing) are
always problematic, and 2) the anti-preferred pairing is never
problematic. If you take nothing else from this article, please take
this: all this outrage isn’t about protecting children, or about
morality, or about critiquing media. It’s about people wanting their
favorite characters to kiss.
It mostly talks about Voltron fandom but mentions antis and wank in other fandoms as well.
It just occurred to me that the reason so many thinkpieces lump doctors in with managers and CEOs when they’re talking about people who need pay cuts is because a lot of people honestly think that what the hospital bills you is what your doctor is getting paid.
From what I’ve heard, foxes open their mouths and scream a bit to say they’re happy and excited (but also to protest and defend their things and territory!!)
Dogs obviously don’t smile either.
Their jowls can droop to look like it, but they mostly open their mouths to either pant to cool off or release stress, show submission, bark or bite.
So while no canine animal actually smiles like we humans do, foxes still come pretty close to it. ♥️
