i cannot fucking believe i never realized this

So as a division officer to nearly 60 sailors over 3 years. I asked every single one. “What made you join the Navy?” Here is the breakdown.
80% – To pay for college
10% – To get out of a bad family situation
5% – Family Tradition
5% – Because of 9/11.

“Would poor people literally risk their lives to win access to things that the rich take for granted if that weren’t set up as the only way to get them?”

Free college isn’t the solution though because that would not only lower the standard of education and make degrees worthless but also cause taxes to skyrocket.

The reason why college is expensive in America is because most of the tuition money is going to administrators who don’t really do anything and because the government subsidises college.

And universal health care will cause the same problem as free college, people won’t be able to pay that much tax and whatever health care you get will be low quality.

Those things need to be more accessible I order to get people out of poverty but making them free will cause other problems because nothing in life is truly free.

I have heard from a lot of survivors who are, understandably, confused about how responsible their parents are for the abuse because they were also abused by their parents. So let me clarify…

They are 100% responsible. Abuse is 100% wrong and it is 100% their responsibility that they are doing it. Just as it will be 100% wrong and your responsibility if you do it to your children.

It is the abusive parent’s duty to deal with their emotional wounds so that they do not abuse you. Repeatedly saying, “sorry, I was abused too,” is not good enough. They need to change their behavior and not abuse you anymore. That is the only thing that means anything. Bringing up past abuse instead of being accountable and changing their behavior is just another way of manipulating you into accepting the abuse. Maybe you are underage and cannot yet stop them from abusing you, but you can at least know in your mind that it is not acceptable behavior, that they are at fault and responsible for their abuse of you.

“They need to change their behavior and not abuse you anymore. That is the only thing that means anything. Bringing up past abuse instead of being accountable and changing their behavior is just another way of manipulating you into accepting the abuse.”

They also need healthier coping mechanisms for their traumas and deserve to be helped by professionals in the matter.

Abusive parents have every freedom to get professional help. They are adults and it is their responsibility to seek that out and do it. No one can force them and let’s just be real clear here, adults who abuse their children usually don’t seek professional help. That would require they admit they’re abusive and that almost never happens. So I repeat, THEY ARE 100% FREE TO GET PROFESSIONAL HELP. NO ONE HERE HAS EVER SAID ANY DIFFERENT.

Just to be clear.

Also, not being able to afford professional help is not an excuse to continue unfettered delight in crushing a tiny, innocent human soul. I know this from experience. You can become a better person ALL BY YOURSELF. JUST START FUCKING TRYING.

My parents do not admit they’re abusive (gaslighting), nor do they try to be better people. That’s 100% on them and so is the damage they did to me as a child.

Sure, they deserve help if they want it, but let me be crystal clear, that does not excuse their responsibility one tiny damn molecule.

And I never said they weren’t responsible for their behavior nor that it excused their shitty behavior. So yeah I agree!

I’m just being clear. Bc abusers screw with our heads so thoroughly. And if I seem angry, I am but not at you. I’m like just permanently pissed at abusive parents.

It’s so obvious that many leftists on here grew up believing super evil shit and then became woke like 6 months ago and they assume everyone is like that. No I actually didn’t need to learn to see garbagemen as people, that comes quite natural to many people? And treating retail staff as humans is also not a new concept to me as, you know, I have and likely will again work in retail. And I’m not even like That working class to put it that way lmao my dad worked as a librarian when I was a child, how fucking posh are the people who think it’s a radical new concept to consider people that have shitty jobs human???? It’s probably the same type of people who made fun of me in school because my parents had a crappy car and lived in a rented house.

Just your daily reminder that the two-party system blows:

like-the-brightest-star:

Here in Ohio, we’re voting for our state auditor today. Now, we have 3 choices here:

1. A current state representative who is a law school grad with 8 years of state senate experience under his belt. As far as I can tell, no experience in finances or auditing.

2. Another law school grad with 5 years of congressional experience under his belt. Hasn’t been anywhere near politics for the past 7 years. Again, no easily visible experience in finances/auditing.

3. A 32-year accounting and auditing veteran who also worked as an adjunct professor after getting his masters(in finance). In addition to being totally qualified, also seems like a nice guy: does a lot of community services, tutoring, and coaching in his spare time.

Seems like a total wash, right? Candidate 3 seems astronomically more qualified than Candidates 1 & 2. Here’s the problem though: Candidates 1 & 2 are Republican and Democrat respectively. “Who cares? Candidate 3 still seems infinitely more qualified than either of them: he’s definitely going to win right?” Yeah… none of our local news groups are even talking about Candidate 3- or his credentials- because he’s 3rd party.

All of this isn’t even touching on all the discussions we could have about qualified candidates of any party being ignored because of their party affiliation: plenty of moderate candidates- with excellent credentials- that aren’t going to win because they aren’t “hard-line” enough to get their party’s support.

Ever notice how people who say “there are dark skin Japanese people” aren’t usually Japanese and dont kbow that a “dark skin” Japanese character is usually a racist caricature of Okinawans

rainbowloliofjustice:

And they won’t ever bring up dark-skinned Japanese people outside of and for all the shit they talk about “muh representation” and “diversity” they don’t bother drawing characters who actually have darker skin.

Like just say it’s your fetish or something and call it a day. At least you’re being honest if you admit to it
