I don’t understand how anyone on this God-forsaken website can hate Rose Tico. She is literally everything that they’ve been demanding for years.

She is a woman of color and the purest being to ever grace us with her existence. She doesn’t have a traditionally “feminine” job, works with her hands, is extremely compassionate, believes in justice, and is shown to be rather intelligent. The only thing that she’s missing to make her Tumblr’s golden child is being homosexual.

This isn’t even to mention the fact that how she reacts to meeting Finn is exactly the same to how any of us would react to meeting John Boyega.

So, yeah, Rose Tico is a treasure, and any of you who disagree can fight me.

The real reason why they hate her is because she gets in the way of their OTPs (Finnpoe and Finnrey). Everything they say about her, is fabricated to make her look bad (things that they’d happily excuse in their faves).

Oh, no, no, no. The REAL reason why they hate her is far more insidious than that.

Antis aren’t “anti racist”, they’re “pro black people.” Every other race is fair game for the racism they claim to be against. Hell, I wouldn’t even say they’re pro-black people either as they’re happy to call Black people “coons” the moment they don’t toe the line. I’d say they’re just “pro-Black people unless you disagree with us.”

Hispanics? White passing. They don’t count. They’ve got that light skinned privilege and don’t know what is slavery, so they’ll never know the REAL oppression.

Native Americans? Who gives a shit? Nobody gives a shit about Natives. They’re less than dirt as far as these people are concerned.

Muslims? Ha. Only Western Muslims count. When a Middle Eastern Muslim talks about how her hijab is oppressive and how oppression in Islamic countries is? Shut her down! She doesn’t know how bad those Western Muslims have it.

Jews? Only as a shield against “kylie ron”. Otherwise? Jews are evil zionist money grubbers who are in control of the US government and need to be expelled.

Asians? They get the worst of it. Especially East Asians. Asians are “pee oh see” but are nowhere near “oppressed.” Ever wonder why people ask why “there aren’t any poc in anime?” Or why Whitewashing Black characters is wrong, but it’s perfectly okay to alter Symmetra and Connie’s features to look more African in fanart? Yeah, it’s because Asians are “diet White people.”

I’ve been called “sand nigger”, “paki”, “brownie curry” what have you on the internet many times before. On any other site the people doing this get called out as trolls. On Tumblr? It’s encouraged. Because racism against Indians “doesn’t count.”

I’ve seen Finnrose get the same kind of flack. I’ve seen Rose get called a “downgrade” as a love interest for Finn because she’s Vietnamese. I’ve seen it get called “not a real interracial couple” and all sorts of shit like that.

These guys are bloody hypocrites and perpetuating the very thing they hate.

I’m—

the very thing they claim to hate, anyway. especially when your main standard for “interracial couple” is that one of the parties has to be white……..that’s legitimately racist af, but ok.

And you know what is really ironic? The galaxy far far away is a place full of incredibly different types of people, of different races, of beliefs etc. A true Star Wars fan embraces that difference – I see Finn and and rose as the key that unlocks how all of this is going to end: by meeting DJ on their adventure Finn understands that the world is not black and white and that there is a fine line between good and bad, and Rose teaches him that a man or woman needs to live by a set of values. But most of all Rose teaches Finn how this war is going to end: by helping believing in and ultimately saving those we love. Black panther showed everyone the way. Obviously the skywalker saga is about a family but once this story has been told rian and team will show us all these new unexplored worlds and hopefully the next saga will be even more representative of the extraordinary magical diversity that makes us human

And for some extra hilarious irony? Racism doesn’t exist in the GFFA. Some specism? Sure. Prejudice against and less rights for droids? Yes. But discrimination between humans of different skin colors/ethnicities? “Race” as a concept as we understand it in real life isn’t a thing in Star Wars.

There don’t seem to be any qualms about gender identity or sexual orientation, either.

It’s basically the “woke” Tumblr crowd inserting real life politics into a fictional universe where those things don’t apply.

And they claim “straight white male fanboys” are the worst part of the SW fandom.

Antis: “reading fanfic is retraumatizing you!! but me comparing you to your abuser and telling you to kill yourself is doing absolute wonders for your mental health”

Antis: “oh, I don’t condone those other antis who harass or abuse shippers. But have you considered that maybe if you’re shipping an abusive ship, you kind of deserve it?”

Imagine being a vet tech in the Pokemon World though

  • constantly lecturing people about not giving their grass-types enough sun
  • ditto with not bathing their fire pokemon
  • someone brings in their munchlax for a check up and in the middle of the exam it evolves
  • double and triple checking that no zangoose or sevipers are scheduled anywhere near each other
  • giving oral meds to a pinsir
  • whole clinics that specialize in psychic or ghost pokemon that most normal clinics just can’t deal with
  • clinics keeping around pokemon like sylveon or meganium to help calm trainers and patients

nurse joy gotta put up with a lot of shit

That’s how we’re gonna win.

#rose summed up the entire thesis of star wars in one fucking quote and that’s that on that

And then people say that Rian spit on everything Star Wars stands for…😢😢😢

Rian spit on everything some people mistakenly ~thought~ Star Wars stands for.

GOOD.

Now back to what Luke tells Ben – strike me in anger and [your embodied light] will never leave you. Interesting

Any “knight in shining armour” who expects a reward for saving the damsel in distress isn’t a hero. He’s a mercenary.

Bitch pay me,

Now I want a comic where a princess tries to kiss the hero and he’s just like “yea that’s nice and all but I need gold for rent and food… and I chipped my sword.”

(Unceremoniously shoving princess of the back off my horse at the feet of the King)

“Let me see, that’ll be 100 gold for princess rescue, 25 gold extra because she has no serious injury, also there was a mimic in the tower I charge extra if a mimic is involved, you can check the fine print of my contract…”

I’m in for this.

“Miss, I respect your…uh…enthusiasm, but I have a wife. A wife who is very good with a crossbow.”

*Indicates the crossbow’d guardsman nearby.*

“Your prince charming is some dude who hired us.”

Plot twist, the prince charming is a really decent dude; but he couldn’t risk leaving the capitol while the evil plotting nefarious badguy was still around, but also was too morally upright to either leave the princess alone or just assassinate the badguy.

“Self-care is often a very unbeautiful thing.

It is making a spreadsheet of your debt and enforcing a morning routine and cooking yourself healthy meals and no longer just running from your problems and calling the distraction a solution.

It is often doing the ugliest thing that you have to do, like sweat through another workout or tell a toxic friend you don’t want to see them anymore or get a second job so you can have a savings account or figure out a way to accept yourself so that you’re not constantly exhausted from trying to be everything, all the time and then needing to take deliberate, mandated breaks from living to do basic things like drop some oil into a bath and read Marie Claire and turn your phone off for the day.

A world in which self-care has to be such a trendy topic is a world that is sick. Self-care should not be something we resort to because we are so absolutely exhausted that we need some reprieve from our own relentless internal pressure.

True self-care is not salt baths and chocolate cake, it is making the choice to build a life you don’t need to regularly escape from.

And that often takes doing the thing you least want to do.

It often means looking your failures and disappointments square in the eye and re-strategizing. It is not satiating your immediate desires. It is letting go. It is choosing new. It is disappointing some people. It is making sacrifices for others. It is living a way that other people won’t, so maybe you can live in a way that other people can’t.

It is letting yourself be normal. Regular. Unexceptional. It is sometimes having a dirty kitchen and deciding your ultimate goal in life isn’t going to be having abs and keeping up with your fake friends. It is deciding how much of your anxiety comes from not actualizing your latent potential, and how much comes from the way you were being trained to think before you even knew what was happening.

If you find yourself having to regularly indulge in consumer self-care, it’s because you are disconnected from actual self-care, which has very little to do with “treating yourself” and a whole lot do with parenting yourself and making choices for your long-term wellness.

It is no longer using your hectic and unreasonable life as justification for self-sabotage in the form of liquor and procrastination. It is learning how to stop trying to “fix yourself” and start trying to take care of yourself… and maybe finding that taking care lovingly attends to a lot of the problems you were trying to fix in the first place.

It means being the hero of your life, not the victim. It means rewiring what you have until your everyday life isn’t something you need therapy to recover from. It is no longer choosing a life that looks good over a life that feels good. It is giving the hell up on some goals so you can care about others. It is being honest even if that means you aren’t universally liked. It is meeting your own needs so you aren’t anxious and dependent on other people.

It is becoming the person you know you want and are meant to be. Someone who knows that salt baths and chocolate cake are ways to enjoy life – not escape from it.”
