Black fans of Overwatch: hey, blizzard… :/ can we maybe… :/ have some more… black characters? :/

Overwatch community, including Jeff: shut up blackies don’t you have Orisa and Winston already?

1. This is a racist generalization; the vast majority of “black” fans of Overwatch don’t snivel and whine about the race of fictional characters. And, for those who do:

2. Their unquenchable ‘representation fetish’ is not Blizzard’s responsibility to satisfy.

Lucio, Anna, Doomfist, Pharah.

I’d say OP doesn’t play overwatch, but I don’t either and I know these characters exist.

And I’d say you’re a dumbass

>#ana and phrarah don’t count as black characters btw

Why? Because you say so? Despite the fact that they have features common with Nubian people, who are genetically Afro-asiatic?

Or are you gonna repeat that stupid colorist “they’re light-skinned so it doesn’t count” chestnut?

It doesn’t really matter, because giving so much of a shit about the racial composition of a video game is fucking stupid.

They’re egyptian, not the same thing as black just because Egypt is in Africa. Which Nubian features do they have?????

It’s pretty easy to tell if you aren’t an idiot.

Why don’t you tell me how Pharah and Ana don’t count besides “they just don’t” because if Nubians aren’t black then you’re saying most of Northern Africa isn’t either, because they have the same genetic ancestry.

At this point I’m ready to ask what you consider “black” because not every black person has to be from the Bantu or Niger-congo region.

I really can’t believe I have to argue about demographics with you people.

“With you people” lmao the racism is starting to jump out. You are right though, a lot of North Africans are not black. This isn’t to say these countries don’t have black people in them though. A good majority of Egyptians are Arabic. Not the same thing as black. Regarding northern African countries… Again the majority of the people in Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, and Egypt are Arabs. Not the same thing as black. And to reiterate, this doesn’t mean there aren’t black people in these countries. But to say “they’re from Egypt, so they’re black” isn’t enough to qualify them as black.

>thinking I meant black people when I said “you people”

Lmao no, I meant people who think complaining about the racial makeup of a video game is real activism, who come in all racial groups. Nice try though.

This is straight up the dumbest shit ive ever read. OP. Is just mad that there is no black character from America that they can bitch and moan about. It’d be kinda funny if it wasnt sad

Isn’t Gabriel supposed to be Blexican American?

I’m with this movement!

me

Salute to this movement

This is so important!

Everybody needs to value eachother!!! Yes!!!! I love this!!!!

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve been coerced into sex because some girl decided that she wanted it, and when I say no she turns it into some kind of criticism of her. Or I’m cheating. Or I’m actually gay. Or she starts groping me and playing with me trying to “get me in the mood”. Or she just won’t take no for an answer. After many years of this you know what I’m left with? Low self esteem, constant bad sex, depression, having all sex now feel like a chore, being terrified that if I have sex with someone I actually *like* then it won’t work out, and the feeling like I CAN’T say NO.

Ladies, “No means No” isn’t just for guys. Some of us have grasped the concept. Time for you to do so as well.

Creative Writing Professor at a former college: Welcome to creative writing! By the way,
you will not write fantasy, ghost stories, pranormal, or science fiction
in this class, as this is a creative writing course.”

What the ever loving fuck is with “creative” writing professors who think that speculative fiction of any stripe ISN’T CREATIVE?

I still remember my own creative writing teacher telling me this because he saw the Terry Pratchett book on my desk and got this smug smirk on his face like “aha, gotcha”. He had the nerve to pick it up and call it “popularist fiction”, like somehow being popular and easily accessible made it less inherent in intellectual value.

I had it in my back pack because I did my final thesis on the evolution of mythology and folk tails into fantasy and sci-fi and the societal importance of telling stories (before anyone asks, no I don’t have it, I lost it when I moved continents), and I used Terry Pratchett because there wasn’t a single humanitarian issue the man did not touch on.

Which I told him. And then he kind of floundered and went “ah, well but, it’s…well I mean it’s not exactly high brow”, like neither the fuck was Shakespeare or Dickens you self-important turnip. Dickens was literally selling his stories by the chapter. He was the popular author of his time. Shakespeare was too, he fucking made up words and phrases all the time because the language he needed to express himself didn’t exist in the way he needed it too.

Intellectual elitism is nothing more than a hold over from class warfare and the belief that only certain people should get to be truly educated. And it needs to be smashed.

Academia in general is the enemy of creativity.

Highbrow elitists create this kind of gatekeeping because they want to have a tight-knit “boys club” hence they shun things that happen to be popular or easily accessable to the Unwashed Masses because God forbid things meant to entertain actually entertain people.

This reminds me of the drawing teacher I had in elementary-middle school who was like that teacher from Chalkzone. She had a huge grudge towards any style that wasn’t “real”, anime in particular. Her lessons were always “draw the fruit basket” or “draw this tree” and we were judged on how well we could copy.

She convinced me that I was bad in drawing by constantly giving me 5/10, 4/10 in everything because “it’s too cartoony and not REAL DRAWING.”

Imagine my shock when people in college tell me that I’m good at drawing.

heya!!

just wanted to say that if you’re glad Stan Lee is dead, you can kindly:

1. get off my blog

2. get out of the Marvel fandom, you aren’t welcome here if you’re going to bitch and moan about how he didn’t change his characters to be how you liked. we are mourning the loss of a man who shaped childhoods and inspired millions.

3. MAKE YOUR OWN CHARACTERS

I love when communists and fascists make memes about “centrists” because it’s always the same stupid message that if you don’t adhere to radicalism you just have no political opinions and never thought about anything in your life

Tumblrs Strawman of moderate: everyone is right and there is no answer because everyone is right.

Actual Moderates: “I just think in some cases the left-wing answer is the most viable and sound, and in others I think the right wing has the best idea. So I don’t adhere to an all-or-nothing policy like the especially toxic one enforced by a two-party system”

Tumblr’s strawman of moderates: “just feed 50% of babies into a woodchipper, that’ll solve the problem!”

Actual Moderates: “Can I please fucking talk to someone who isn’t a psychopath?
