Considering that the “generic superhero movie” uses women as prizes to be saved/pretty props/sacrificial victims, yes.
How horrible that women were commonly the focus of the plot and the primary drive of male protag’. Horrible indeed. /s
At the expense of being actual people with an objective besides “be the man’s drive (you have no drive except to be his)”, “be pretty for men to enjoy (your drive is irrelevant)”, and “die so that a man gets his drive (unlike you, whose drive is irrelevant)”? Yes. Yes, it IS horrible when a disproportionately big amount of female characters are like that.
Bad movie tropes are not oppression, no matter how much you want them to be, sis 😂
But, hey: if that doesn’t bother you, then you won’t be bothered if we reserve white cishet able-bodied men to villainous roles exclusively, leaving all other roles open to everyone else.
Well the study is behind a paywall so I cant actually read it. Link for anyone rich But from what I can see I dont think its all that useful. About 400 surveys is a lot but still a 7 almost 8 year old study isn’t much. Especially since I doubt they not only had a way of getting rid of other things that could affect self esteem and keep those kids in the control group from never watching tv.
As for your retort flipping the problem doesn’t solve it. Especially since you imply that there are NO female nonwhite heroes. Ill just hand you this collection of the entire MCU
And then there’s the discussion revolving around the sexism and misogyny that supposedly exists in the comic book fan world, despite the fact that there are more male comic book fans who are excited about these movies existing than women in general. And while there are very many female comic book fans, it’s no secret that men dominate that interest, because if they didn’t, the social justice movement couldn’t claim misogyny is rampant in it.
But, if the comic book fandom is full of men, who are excited for these upcoming movies, how could one suggest that the sexist male society isn’t ready for their existence?
That basis has no ground and people such as OP focus their interest in these movies more on the fact that it focuses on women than whether or not the movie will be good and stay true to the characters.
Maybe they do have that interest but this post suggests otherwise.
Ridiculous.
Comic fans are the ones calling Wonder Woman “the only good DCEU movie”.
Its like Aridara is a robot built in a lab who’s only instinct is to spout woke takes that blow up in their face
I’ve been hype for a Captain Marvel movie since Avengers 1 homie, she’s in my top 5 of my favorite comic book heroes, #2 in Marvel. Your idea of comic book movies with female heroes smashing the patriarchy is asinine because I’ll be on line for those tickets before anybody, male or female.
>Its like Aridara is a robot built in a lab who’s only instinct is to spout woke takes that blow up in their face
Tbh I think Aridara is just In All Conciousness with a different name, they speak in a similar manner.
