I’m legitimately so tired of the Disney remakes. Like I can’t even muster up enough energy to be mad about it, I just truly do not care. There hasn’t been one remake I felt compelled to see in theaters, and only a few that I bothered to watch on Netflix. The result is always either no better or actively worse than the original, and if you like watching them that’s fine, but I’m sick to death of the argument that we need these endless remakes so that “a new generation can enjoy the stories”. What planet are you one where you can’t watch a movie more than once? The stories are readily available. I watched plenty of movies as a kid that came out before I was born, there’s literally nothing stopping you.
Also, it used to be when they made a remake they at least had the decency to remake 40+ year old films; now they’re remaking things that came out just a few decades ago and adding practically nothing.
I guess I really don’t see what the appeal is or why they make so much money. I mean I get nostalgia but if I feel nostalgic for an old movie I’ll just… watch that movie.
yall feel so entitled to children’s films specifically NOT made for you. it’s so weird.
Would you shut the hell up?
Literally nothing in this post indicates even the tiniest bit of entitlement. I’m talking I about why I, personally, am disinterested in the remakes, while also specifically saying that if you like them that’s fine. Learn to read. Fucks sake I am so tired of not being able to say anything even halfway critical about this slog of remakes without some halfwit response like “hurr durr ur just a bitter fanboi lulz”. Get some better defenses.
Also they found out that children overall preferred the OLD CARTOON MOVIES to the live action ones. The live action ones were preferred by ADULTS who hadn’t seen the older ones.
What does that tell you? That those movies were only remade to make money.
Why the hell would an adult need parents permission? You dont for the abortion unless youre a minor and you cant buy a gun until you’re 18 to buy a rifle 21 to buy a handgun (handguns account for most gun crime).
Theres also mental health requirements to own firearms which amounts to more than a doctors note… Which again isnt required for an abortion
And literally everything else here also isnt required for an abortion its things done by people protesting abortion which can easily be done by people protesting guns as well. And isnt even a universal experience for people getting abortions.
Gun crime rates are absolutely highest in the country in the places with strictest gun control, especially where that coincides with gang activity. It’s also worth noting that almost every reported major shooting involved stolen guns so this again would do literally nothing in slowing that if it even made sense in the first place.
And why does this keep specifying “young men with guns”? Do only men buy guns? Nope. Do only men shoot people? Again… No?
And for the record the issue with abortion is that some people view the fetus as a person and consider killing it to be murder. So they call the person a murderer. Buying an object doesnt kill anything, a clump of cells or otherwise, so why would someone call the person buying an object a murderer?
The reason why saying “straight culture™” or “this is the most heterosexual thing i’ve ever seen” when it comes to toxic or abusive relationships isn’t good is because
1. It normalizes the idea that relationships between a man and a woman are inherently toxic and abusive or that it’s okay for relationships between a man and a woman to be toxic and abusive and
2. it erases the truth that abuse happens just as often in homosexual relationships as it does in heterosexual relations.
Both those things lead to people not recognizing abuse or staying in abusive relationships out of the notion that what is happening is acceptable. So stop it. Abuse and toxicity are not “Straight culture”. They’re filthy things that can happen to anyone.
Is it just me or was this year like … Really fucking overwhelming? Like everything’s that’s happened to you this year has shaped you into a completely different person that you were at the beginning of this year
The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air. Much that once was is lost; for none now live who remember it.
Pronouns are gendered, and its detrimental to say they aren’t.
By saying pronouns aren’t gendered gives room for transphobes to misgender trans people. It also erases the struggle trans people go through just to be called by their pronouns, as well as the discomfort or awkwardness that comes with being referred to with opposite pronouns.
Words have meaning. They have meanings because thats how communication works. Thats. How words work.
1. Being non-straight doesn’t eliminate the possibility of holding homophobic views(however, usually those people either have a severe case of internalized homophobia or they’re narcissists). Thankfully, I’m not homophobic. However, I WOULD criticize both straight and non-het people if they were doing something messed up. But I wouldn’t generalize them, bc..
2. Generalization is wrong. I’ve met cringey straight people. I’ve met cringey non-het people as well. But I’ve also met hella cool and down-to earth non-het and straight ppl. Not all het people want you dead and are dying to quote Leviticus up your ass.
3. Non-bigoted straight people are not responsible for the actions the bigoted part of their community does. There’s a huge difference between understanding that conversion therapy is wrong(and trying to make it illegal) and acting like you hold as much blame as the cunts who made it legal and/or justify it. A lot of non-het people act like every single straight person helped kill Harvey Milk or as if all straight people contributed to the murder of gay ppl in the streets during the previous century.
4. No one must be obliged to be political about this. This has nothing to do with privilege or lack thereof. Being an activist takes a lot of effort, time and shit. Not everyone has even the fucking TIME or ENERGY to do it. Also, that crap drains the fuck out of you because you are forced to deal with dumb cunts on both sides and you have to debate a lot. What one must be, though, is accepting of queer people.
5. There’s nothing wrong with criticizing non-straight people. A lot of people do cringeworthy things. And even if they belong to a minority, said people must be called out. But ONLY those who do said cringeworthy shit should be held accountable, not every single person. There’s a difference between “man shall not lie with man” and “pride parades are biphobic and hypersexualized lately”.
6. By doing all of that “all hetties are shit” crap, you’re giving homophobic people one fuck of an opportunity to shit on non-het people and possibly even do something to reverse the progress that has been made.
7. Fetishism of non-het people is lame as fuck. Oh, the good old days when non-het people were tryna show how they’re just like straight people. Too bad they’re gone, replaced by those when queer people act like being gay/bi/pan is a fucking accomplishment, like writing a book or climbing to the top of a mountain is. Sorry, but you didn’t choose to not be straight. And you being non-straight doesn’t make you special.
8. The LGBT+ community has its lame sides as well. Your idealization won’t save you from people calling out on your bullshit and showing some negative statistics about non-het relationships(that also exist in het relationships) to your dumb ass.
9. Neither non-het, nor straight people need to agree with you on everything. Deal with it.
10. The “non-het people can define what is homophobic” isn’t perfect. I could say that people shipping het couples is bigoted. Would you still believe me, even if it’s not true?
100% blame queer theory and the fact that every single proponent was shitting their pants at it becoming as obsolete as phrenology in late 2012 and early 2013.
Also straight trans people exist. Do you guys hate THEM too?
Or are you basically implying that you think trans people who are straight aren’t REALLY straight because trans people are a “different gender”?
