The point of voting blue in 2018 isn’t to make the US perfect. We cannot accomplish that in one fell swoop. There’s gerrymandering, voter apathy, voter suppression, and generations of older party-line fucks we have to deal with.

Voting blue in 2018 is to make it less immediately threatening for PoC, LGBT+ people, the disabled, and any other marginalized demographic. It’s a stopgap against Republicans who are aligned with Nazis, white supremacists, and sexual abusers.

Correcting politics in the United States is going to take decades of new voters staying on top of politics and not falling prey to apathy, like our predecessors.

People telling you not to waste a vote on 3rd Party this midterm aren’t saying “never vote 3rd party.” Republicans have united behind one utterly heinous front. We need to unite behind Democrats, for the time being.

Repeating this key sentence:

“Voting blue in 2018 is to make it less immediately threatening for PoC, LGBT+ people, the disabled, and any other marginalized demographic [WOMEN]. It’s a stopgap against Republicans who are aligned with Nazis, white supremacists, and sexual abusers.”

Reblogging in the memory of everyone who said to me, 2 years ago, “how much damage can he do?” and “it’s like choosing the lesser of two evils” and “you’re overreacting” and “he won’t get elected it’ll never happen”.

In the same vein, if you had the ability to vote and didn’t vote, you are supporting transphobia, racism, sexism, homophobia, and overall racism isn’t something worth getting up and voting out

Like let’s be clear, if you had the ability to vote and didn’t, you absolutely played a role in all of the terrible shit republicans are gonna do and don’t fucking try to pretend you aren’t

^^^^^

How do you play a part in something you weren’t involved in? A bystander does not a bad guy make, and even if it does, calling people who don’t want to vote “transphobic, racist, sexist, homophobic, and… racist” isn’t going to make them suddenly jump out of their pajamas and go vote for whatever (Against Republicans, I assume?) It just makes those terms less and less and less meaningful, until they’re white noise being haplessly thrown together.

Listen, I know this means a lot to you. I can’t relate but I empathize. it’s terrifying times, these days. But trying to call people increasingly meaningless names didn’t work out in your favor in 2016, and if you keep doing the same thing, Well, nothing is going to change.

If you could just stop saying things like that, maybe try using their plans and intended programs as talking points for why you should vote for them, instead of berating them like a dog who’s pissed on the floor. But, knowing my luck you won’t listen. I tried.

(Also, moving this off my main account, sorry for repeating.)

is this the dictionary y’all have been using?

terf: a lesbian who disagrees with you on any topic

butch: any person performing masculinity

femme: any person performing femininity

lesbian: terf and biphobe

biphobe: a lesbian who doesn’t mention bisexual women when specifically talking about lesbians

cishet: NOT someone who is cis and het

sexual attraction: feeling horny every time you look at someone attractive

asexuality: someone who can still want sex and enjoy sex, which is somehow different from every other person who enjoys and wants sex

reading comprehension: a skill that is unnecessary to use before you tell someone to kill themselves

Hell Terf is even used against bisexuals now if you state a opinion outside of the box… its pathetic.

I’ve been called a terf even though I’m a bisexual trans guy so

Lgbt actually stands for Lterf Gterf Bterf Terf

You dun goofed. Black Lives Matter, I was okay with you before, sort of. Now I’m pissed.

So tonight, I saw Ben Shapiro. I’m not sure what I expected, but I got a grim reminder of how fucked up the SJW mindset is. I came early and I bonded with some people in line over trigger warning jokes and made some enemies over my outward support of his right to speak. I should probably say right now that I’m a moderate that’s too liberal for conservatives and too conservative for liberals, and I don’t agree with everything the man says.

As for the event itself, I was surprised at how much I agreed with Ben. He mainly kept his viewpoints tethered to statistics, which I have mad respect for. His speech was overall pretty tame, but he had a lot of sharp zingers.

But let’s not talk about what I thought of what he said, because I’m here to tell you about what actually went down. So from the beginning, it was apparent that BLM protesters were going to be present. Standing in line, people were already venting about how awful this was going to be. It was a small venue, so not a lot of people were let in. Even before Ben was introduced, you could hear “black lives matter” chanted over and over and over again and violent banging on the door. Thank god there were policemen present.

So Ben gives his talk, and here lies the biggest surprise for me. There were clear BLM supporters all around inside, but during the speech, what do I hear from them? Barely anything. A few gasps, a few muttered “no”s, but nobody actively challenged him. The loudest people were outside, AKA the only people who weren’t able to hear the speech.

But the real juicy bit comes after the speech. When the doors are opened, I’m greeted with a smaller number of protesters than anticipated. And oh, boy. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy are they some of the most stupid people I have ever met. They’re scribbling shit on posters, they’re knocking papers out of people’s hands, they’re yelling at others. So, naturally, I interview some of them. Here’s a particularly special one to me.

Me: Why are you protesting? Did you see him?
SJW chick: No, I wasn’t let in, but he’s a racist.
Me: Okay, why?
SJW chick: Because he is. He is a racist.
Me: And how did you come to that conclusion?
SJW: He’s against diversity and affirmative action.
Me: If you were in there, you would have heard that he’s against racial diversity just for the sake of diversity. He’s not actually a racist.
SJW: But he is a racist! I don’t need to hear him to know that!

If I wasn’t there myself, I’d call it a strawman. Well, the people we’re dealing with did make this, so I guess it’s not a surprise:

Christ, you guys are disgusting. Trying to censor a guy just because he disagrees with you, trying to storm the venue, knocking phones and fliers out of supporters’ hands and yelling at them to stop when they don’t lift a finger, protesting that he’s able to give his voice, when you don’t even listen to a word he says. You just assume that you hate him.

I just wish the aim wasn’t to censor. I just wish they could listen and respectfully give their opinions back. I just hate the way we deal with opposing opinions today 😦

omg

I’m not a fan of Ben Shapiro, but holy fuck, do these people realize what they did? They’re equating a Jewish man to Hitler. This is fucking appalling.
