Patricia Cronin, Memorial to a Marriage, carrara marble (installed at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY), 2002

In Memorial to a Marriage, Patricia Cronin disrupts the cemetery. Installed ‘for eternity’ in New York’s necropolis, Cronin and her partner lie entwined upon a modern mattress among the memorials to the partners in and products of state sanctioned heterosexuality. By taking anticipatory revenge, Cronin out-manouevres the reality that she and her partner, Deborah Kass, could not be recognized as a family in the eyes of the American state at the time the work was made. “If I can’t have it in life,” says Cronin, “I’m going to have it in death.”

TUMBLR JUST KILLED LINKS

silence-burns:

Yes, you read it right.

As of today, November 17, 2018, any post with links, any links, even to other tumblr posts, just don’t show up anymore in tumblr’s search engine.

I just found out about it, after I posted a fic with a link to my masterlist and it got little to no notes (it shuldn’t). I was right – the moment I deleted the links, my post magically appeared in the search again. Wow.

Please spread the word to warn the others.

I can see an anti as a teacher in the future refusing to discuss Shakespeare because of Abuse (Oberon having Titania drugged), “Pedophillia” (Romeo & Juliet), Bestiality (Titania with Bottom), “romantising mental illness/suicide” (Hamlet, especially Ophelia), misogyny (everything but especially Taming of the Shrew and McBeth) and lesbophobia (Since all women characters must be lesbians and especially if they don’t like a guy at first. So Taming of the Shrew and Titania especially.)

In the Victorian Era actually Shakespeare plays were censored and rewritten because they would “offend women.”

I imagine Antis would rewrite their own versions of those plays where all the “problematic” elements are removed.
