I understand what they are saying about Mulan’s partner but I also think they aren’t considering pheromones and their role in attraction. Mulan may have dressed like a man but it didn’t change the fact that she still had the pheromones of a woman and the face of one. But I bet he was wondering if he was bi himself since he had no idea. I also think him liking her prior showed he liked her for her regardless if he thought she was male or female. Getting rid of that kind of makes their love fake
