What does negging mean

According to Wikipedia:

Negging is an act of emotional manipulation
whereby a person makes a deliberate backhanded compliment or otherwise
flirtatious remark to another person to undermine their confidence and
increase their need of the manipulator’s approval.

So it would be like a douche at a bar telling a lady, “You look pretty for a bigger girl” to try and get her to want to be with him.
