Today my almost five year old asked if it was a good idea to give some change to one of the salvation army donation people. I explained to her that I personally don’t donate my money to them because they don’t believe in loving and helping everyone, but only want to help certain kinds of people and don’t see us all as equal. She asked what kind of people they don’t want to help and I told her “gay people, queer people, transgender people, other people who love and feel differently than some people think they should”. The only thing she said was “wow, that’s unbeyevable. I’ll find someone else to give my money to and I’ll tell them to be gay or gender different if they want to be.”. And honestly, I can’t understand how my five year old can grasp this concept and adults cannot. Stop donating your money to places without any knowledge of who it actually helps.
