Dude, the Mutants aren’t explicitly “the dirty colored people”, they’re a catch all metaphor for “The different” and supposed to show mankind’s hypocrisy when dealing with “The different”. The X-Men aren’t smug assholes who love being superior and beating down their own kind, every time they fight the Brotherhood they feel borderline depressed due to the fact that they had to fight their own kind due to ideological differences between them.

Tons of mutants don’t want to become X-Men and only want regular lives, they have to go to the “Elite East Coast school” because its literally the only way they can get an education without getting lynched. Fuck Bob trying to shoehorn his own demons into everything he watches.
