The only reason people call themselves ex muslim is because being an ex muslim in a lot of counties will lead to their death and they want to give these people hope that the ex muslims in more liberal places who have the same experiences of growing up as a muslim will speak for those who do not have a voice and make sure people know how they are suffering under a religion which is being masked as a religion of peace by developed countries while others who live under the actual teaching of the religion suffer because they do not have basic human rights.

I still live in a country where these practices are seen as normal. The talaq law was literally fucking banned last year 19 years after my father left my mother and she was forced to raise me alone with no fucking financial help.
I call myself an ex muslim to show people that I used to follow the fucking religion and have been raised in that way and learnt through my own research that I was being seen as shit under it.
There is no gain in using ex Muslim as a title it just brings more problems for us as individuals but we still do it because we want people to understand that we are here to fight against a system made to silence us.

He is a lawyer who worked with the fucking people and spread the story of my mother to get national recognition and demolition of the law.

4)My grandfather is a lawyer who put together multiple representatives and signatures which lead to the actual bringing of the law to the court. His contribution has been recognised multiple times in Andra Pradesh as an achievement of Islamic reformation and undoing past mistakes.
