You can’t just make a character start being evil with no explanation or foreshadowing or any character hints whatsoever. It makes the viewer feel cheated.

King Candy was already a good villain to begin with, coming off more as a well-intentioned extremist. He gave Ralph what he wanted up front with no strings attached, and then convinced him that doing something bad was indeed for the greater good, then came the twist that he was lying the whole time.

Revealing the fact that he has a secret identity was the icing on the cake.

“Oh but there’s this freeze-frame moment he looks a tad sinister during Love is An Open Door” that doesn’t mean anything when you still build him up to be a good person. He’s shown handing out blankets to the freezing cold peasants while Anna’s away saving her sister.

I think that Han’s could have done better. However, there were a few subtle hints…

In general, In Love is An Open Door, he and Anna didn’t really sing together even though it was a duet. Disney takes their song’s pretty seriously, and throughout the song, it isn’t the freeze-frame bonus, it’s the fact that Han’s is effectively just following Anna’s lead and copying what she’s doing. The actors also weren’t people who would really sing a duet together due to their different vocal tendencies.

Someone did an analysis over the song and how it foreshadowed Han’s villainy or at least not being in as sync with Anna as he says that he is.

Also gloves in media is a sign of deceit and Hans is the only one who wears gloves in the movie all the time.
