“if you don’t have dysphoria how do you know you’re trans”
You know it by the way your heart jumps when the cashier calls you “sir.”
You know it when a kid says “are you a boy or a girl” and you have to pause.
You know it by the way that ill fitting orchestra dress forms a ball in your stomach, when they don’t come in and you get to wear the same as all the other guys.
You know it when you shop in the guys section and grin every second you’re there
You know it when all you can see when you look at yourself is a boy and all everyone else can see is a girl
You know it when your mom introduces you as her daughter and your heart sinks and your stomach feels
You know it like you know a storm came while you slept before you even open your eyes
You don’t have to dread swimming or showering, feel your skin crawl whenever you look in a mirror, to see all this, feel all this, and know who you are.
buddy this whole post describes fluctuating dysphoria
My friend… This is dysphoria. You are describing regular old dysphoria. That’s what that is.
