real question why are people suddenly acting like pokemon is a dying franchise and lets go is the change gamefreak needs to revive it. it is literally the highest grossing media franchise currently on planet earth

Well, if you they’re like me, you found Sun and Moon to be the most disappointing Pokemon games to date, followed closely by X and Y, and they’re beginning to worry that if new Pokemon games continue in this vein, the sales may be there but the long term interest will be gone

im not like you at all and thank god for that

these are stagnating games that have the slowest openings of any modern game and have massive examples of insulting hand holding

these games sell, sure, but there’s basically almost no effort put ahead in almost any of the modern pokemon games

they’re badly animated, have paper thin plots, mishandle characters, feature unmemorable rivals and are so easy that the average person, including the literal children these games are aimed at, can complete them in their sleep, and even the MOST POWERFUL TRAINERS IN THE LAND are pushovers

i know a dude who beat the last pokemon game he played using only infernape, the pre evolution to said infernape and his infernape’s signature flame punch attack

including the champion of that game

the recent games even have inexplicable performance issues, which is utterly bizarre, considering game freak have been working with nintendo consoles since 1989, and should know the 3ds and switch like the back of their hands at this point

almost every second pokemon mainline game that comes out, i figure “oh i’ll give this a try” and then when i do, it’s a boring and miserable game where i can barely get past the intros because they are so slow and have such insulting amounts of handholding

there’s no evolution, there’s no innovation, and game freak seems to just put up features they added in a previous game on a dart board, toss them at random and then get rid of the features that they hit on said dart board

there’s no rhyme or reason for the design philosophy behind the pokemon games

it’s like fucking overwatch

boring effort that gets constantly revised to death and has anything potentially interesting sanded down to a boring blob

Wow Trill I know you pretty much only make the worst takes imaginable but uhhhhh this is like a new low

“Why is this kid aimed at kids so easy?!”

Because what made the first two games hard as balls were either bad mechanics, overall annoying bugs, and dated design philosophies.

I can fully understand why Sun and Moon aren’t the best of the series, but holy shit to say they put the series on death’s door is a horrible take.

Okay, wow. I thought his takes on Undertale and the monsterfucker community were bad but, woof, this one knocks those out of the park.

Why do the new games seem hand holding compared to the old ones? Well…

Plus he calls the new games easy when you could solo the entirety of RBY with an Alakazam or a Hypno due to the psychic type being utterly broken in Gen 1 and poison being the most common type in the game.

“paper thin plots” LOLWUT maybe that was true for XY which had a really bad story but Gen 5 and 7 had the most complex stories in Pokemon thus far, even ORAS had a more fleshed out plot than standard Pokemon games.
