There’s a lot of discussion on this blog about how SJWs tend to fall for shitty representation, tokenism and Strong Female Characters (TM), but are there any books, movies or tv shows out there that you would say have done representation and diversity particularly well?

Grey’s Anatomy USED to be this way, until the newly “woke” Krista Vernoff returned to the show. For one, the show employed colorblind casting for the main characters and it just so happened that a diverse crowd was right for the roles. You never saw Shonda Rhimes and the writers making a big deal about how the chief of surgery was black or that Callie was a bisexual Latina. Social issues were done more subtly and didn’t work their way into every single script.

Unfortunately, that all started to change a couple of seasons ago and now that Krista Vernoff is back as showrunner, nearly every show has turned into a Very Special Episode and there’s at least one ham-fisted social justice reference thrown into every episode. They’re all up their own asses because a new character is gay! And ASIAN too! There would have never been so many self-congratulatory articles about this a few years ago. And it’s painfully obvious that they’re continuing to push a certain unpopular, chemistryless pairing for “woke” reasons (and the fact that people are convinced that an actress was fired to make said pairing happen isn’t helping).
