I love dubs and I think they are just as good or even better (I can’t believe people attack people over this like it’s just a preference) but something I hate that I’ve seen the English dub do is bring politics into it. I remember one anime started talking about GamerGate or the Patriarchy or something and it’s like why? It wasn’t needed and I’ve noticed this is becoming more common and it is so infuriating. I like my shows and politics separate and ehhh.

I rarely watch dubs, but I guess a lot of English dubs tend to “Americanize” their shows to make them more relatable to American viewers

Good Americanisation – dropping the honorific business and translating it into something equivalent in English, translating Japanese memes to American ones, and Japanese puns to American ones

Bad Americanisation – injecting 3rd wave feminism into conversations where it didn’t even belong
