anti-vaxxers as seen by an autistic person

absolutely-walnuts:

I’m autistic and I am furious, hurt, and terrified that anti-vaxxers use autism as a boogeyman. Frankly, my parents loved me less because I was autistic. They loved me less than they would have if I had been born neurotypical. They taught me parental love was something that had to be earned. And that being autistic made me unworthy.

It terrifies me to see people who would rather expose their child to an avoidable risk of death, than to be the parent of a child like me.

It terrifies me because narrations like these continue to guarantee that autism is viewed with such repugnance that an autistic child born today is almost guaranteed to be less loved, less cared for, and more abused than if they were not autistic.

Remember anti vaxxers – autistic children can be sent to therapy to learn how to be contributing members of society and manage their disability

You CANNOT bring children back from the dead.
