The reason I hate when people draw or edit light skin characters to be darker skinned is that 98% of the time, it isn’t done just because they want to, but out of some desire to get woke points and show off how much they care about diversity and representation. 

As someone with darker skin, it just recks of fetishism. 

#loli things#fetishism#representation#diversity#and it always happens to asian characters too#like i get dark skinned asians exist but uhh#these people act like asians are all the same culture like#japanese asian is not the same as chinese asian#it’s also ironic because there is actually a lot of racial tension between asian cultures#for various reasons#and honestly with how much they care about muh representaiton and diversity#always going well darker skinned asians exist so it’s fine to edit this character to be darker#recks of fetishism because instead of idk… drawing characters who have darker skin#they just do this and act like welp my job is done gimme my woke points#it’s the same when they draw the characters as african american or actually black too#but they wouldn’t ever realize that it comes off as fetishistic because they participate in it#and call anyone who criticizes them over it a racist or something in order to deflect criticism#like if you wanted to draw a character with a diff skin tone just say it’s because you wanted to#instead of trying to be like but diversity and representation#because like i already said it just recks of fetishism#because you don’t actually care about giving them representation#you’re just pretending you care and using them as a shield to deflect criticism#like any other time you wouldn’t say a peep about it
