Lusamine is adorable when she’s not suffering from psychosis. 💗 I’ve always defended her even back when Sun/Moon the games were released. She screwed up. But I knew she wasn’t evil. She snapped and had a bout with insanity. I knew she could be redeemed. So I was very happy when Ultra Sun/Moon did show that. And I love how the anime as handled her character. I’m interested to know though if the anime is going to focus on the subject of Mohn, her missing husband that triggered her descent into insanity in the first place. Or are we just not gonna know who Lillie and Gladion’s father is in the anime? 😅

“But I knew she wasn’t evil. She snapped and had a bout with insanity.”

Oh no, anyone who does the stuff Lusamine did even without having been driven totally mad by Nihilego’s toxin (which USUM confirmed was the case with abusing her kids, creating and experimenting on Type Null, freezing all those Pokemon, giving financing to Team Skull, and almost killing Nebby in order to open a wormhole – none of that had anything to do with Nihilego and all to do with Lusamine) is evil to some degree. Lusamine probably outdoes the likes of Guzma, Archie, Maxie, Colress, most people in Team Rocket, and even Cyrus in terms of evilness, and she was certainly not a good person by any stretch in the games. At most, she used to be decent, but not really truly good. Seeing her realize she needs to get better and doing just that in USUM is powerful because of how bad she’d been. It shows it’s never too late to start on self-improvement and making the right life choices, even for someone like her.

Anime Lusamine, though? Nah, not really evil at all.

Seriously the only villain worse than Lusamine is Ghetsis.

Eh… I would correct you on that, there are a few more pokemon villains
that are worse than her (Even the S/M where she was at her worse.) and some of them will make you forget all about her.

Lysandre’s big goal was freaking genocide and in every take on his character, he never changed that course.

Giovanni
as of Rainbow Rocket and how he took his goals to a grand scale. Is as
straight forward as they come, a mob boss that exploits others for power
and money, with not even a hint of altruism he makes up for with his
goals.

In regards to spin offs.

Darkrai from the Mystery
Dungeon explorer games has done the following: He tried to sabotage the
flow of time and bring the world into a nightmarish hell scape JUST so
he can rule over it. (Driving a god of time BONKERS as a result.)

He
tried to kill the heroes who tried to stop this bad future… when that
failed he brought a freaking kid into a nightmare JUST so he can guilt
you and your partner into committing suicide.

When that
failed he tricked Palkia into trying to bleeping murder you and when
THAT failed he tried once more to convince you to let him kill you… the
list with this guy goes on.

Purple Eyes from the Ranger games:
Among the things he has done, wanting Arceus to kill everyone and spare
him was enough to make God himself consider him a problem to the world.
As a result Arceus had to take the monster with him JUST so he can
figure out what the hell is wrong with him.

Now while this is last
one is to a whole group… rather than an individual: Cipher… if you
really think Type:Null or Cosmog was bad, wait until you take a look at
Shadow Pokemon and what it means to create these things. (These guys have been in the bottom of the morality
ladder for this particular reason.) Unlike with Type:Null and the crap he went through, there was no altruism to creating Shadow Pokemon.

Unlike Lusamine however Lysandre was very poorly written and one dimensional, even more so than pre-ORAS Maxie and Archie. That’s why I didn’t include him as a villain.
