Mom wanted to call me William if I was a boy, Juliana, Maxine, or Billie if I was a girl. Dad wanted to name me Randy whether I was a boy or a girl. Somewhere along the way they chose to name me after a sailor moon character after my great great grandmother.

Charmaine. It was the title of her favorite song. My brother was allowed to name me – he chose the name of our uncle’s cocker spaniel.

Cinderella. Like not even Ella, Cinderella. It’s my mom’s favorite fairy tale and Disney movie. However she thought kids would tease me over the name so decided against it.

I am supposed to be Lekeitha or Anastasia… Yeah.

My middle name was supposed to be my first name originally. So I was gonna be Makenzie, but came out as Haley XD

I was thought to be a boy initially, so before I was born they referred to me as Vikram. 

My mom wanted me to be named Spatika because it has the same meaning as her name, but it was shot down because my dad said “at school people will call her spats or sputnik” 

My grandfather wanted me to be named Meenakshi after the Madurai Meenakshi temple, but my grandmother chose my current name after reading it in a baby names book and that was the one was the one they went for.
