It’s funny because this is an edit and the original shows exactly what the people who made and agree with this comic are actually doing.
Actually there are truckloads of evidence that fiction doesn’t affect reality. Most of the evidence that it DOES is shaky at best and fraudulent at worst.
This is the Doom/Mortal Kombat scare all over again. Before that it was DnD and heavy metal.
Gamers are currently promoting the ideal that 90% of people are NPCs but go on
what the fuck are you talking about and why would i give a shit
The NPC thing is a joke
Hey, wanna know some of the “evidence” for video games making people violent?
So they got a bunch of people, mix of gamers and non-gamers, and put them in a box with a multiplayer game and a dial thing that also worked as a button. Any time you killed one of your opponents, you got to push the button, which would play a honk noise in the box of the person you killed, you used the dial to determine how loud you wanted the noise the play. People who regularly played video games would, on average, set the noise louder than those who didn’t and I think made it play for longer (I researched this in high school, don’t ask me for perfect accuracy on it).
That was their “evidence”.
How does making a louder noise correlate to being violent? IDK, ask Jack Thompson, he’s certified sane!
Also like how ysr715 manage to miss (completely accidentally of course) that most of the people saying that “90% of people are NPCs” almost universally include themselves in that demographic, not the 10%.
A person who thinks fiction is reality can’t understand that a 4chan meme is just… well… a meme?
Shocking.
The only people that are influenced by fictional media are those that are highly impressionable and must be lackin common sense and probably should not be consuming said media anyway
How fiction affects reality: Anime made me very interested in Japanese culture enough to make middle school me look for every scrap of Japan related information I could come across and actually learn the language. Eventually at 14 I got selected to a foreign exchange program to Japan.
NOT how fiction affects reality: I watched anime so I think that picking fights, using weapons, and underage romance are okay. In fact, just today, I tried to break into my library’s restricted section because I thought there was a magic book in there uwu.
