most anti-shipping is teens using social justice vocab to post-hoc justify the things they already like and dislike, in order to feel like those opinions have moral weight rather than just being about a taste in fiction

this is why changes in canon circumstances, word of god, character development, and logical consistency don’t matter. the conclusion is a given: my favorite ship is morally right, and yours is morally wrong. the arguments are bent to fit this conclusion.
