Christianity is all about compassion. To be compassionate is to be selfless – to always put others before yourself. Placing your life above the life of another, even if there isn’t much chance they will live, is not compassionate. At best it is a neutral act.
Christians, however, are not commanded to be neutral. We are commanded to be compassionate, and compassion mandates sacrifice.
Christ tells us repeatedly to abandon material desire – to abandon our attachment to this fleeting life which pails in comparison to the eternity of heaven.
Because of this, abortion will never be a Christian act.
I mean, if you believe that “god” made everything then its pretty safe to say that"god" created abortion to help women. So I’m pretty sure “god” thinks it’s totally cool to let women control their own bodies.
God created everything in the world for good, and the intentional termination of another’s life for one’s own benefit is not good. God, therefore, must have created it so as to allow man, who he made in his image, to choose virtue over vice as he himself had done.
It remains that abortion is a moral ill, and man, possessing free will, is the sole guilty party if he chooses to abuse a system God created solely for good.
Free will isn’t that complicated of a concept, fedora tipper.
So you’re being serious? You think that a woman should be forced to be an incubator because you believe some book? Doesn’t “god” make everything happen for a reason? Why would “god” give us the tools and ability to perform abortions if we weren’t supposed to utilize them?
Abortion is a miracle and has saved the lives of countless women. A fetus is not sentient. It doesn’t think or feel, yet you believe that it holds more value over the life of a woman that is sentient? An actual breathing woman? Did religion make you misogynistic or were you always like this?
religion is poison
It remains that abortion is a moral ill, and man, possessing free will, is the sole guilty party if he chooses to abuse a system God created solely for good.
Good thing women are not “man”.
If you do not wish to be “man”, then I’ll happily treat you as though you were not made in the image of God as “man” was.
The cost of equal rights is equal responsibility.
lol you don’t know women are not men? and dude, shut the fuck up about your delusional god and stop talking to yourself.
Man has two definitions. Stop being pedantic just to take the piss.
Oh really? So women can also call themselves men? XD
“God created everything good in the world, that’s why he wants women forced into dangerous and unwanted pregnancies and he obviously wants children to be unwanted and poor! God is good! ❤️❤️❤️❤️”
Religion sure is a convenient tool to tell women why they should be subordinate. It’s god’s will, right?
Everyone should be subordinate to everyone else. Christianity definitely does not focus on governing women. It is a universal religion that applies universally.
This is why we need a theocracy
Look abortion isn’t empowering or something to be taken lightly but there are times when abortion is needed otherwise people will die.
Dangerous pregnancies, minor mothers, women in poverty, rape and incest victims, babies with disabilities so severe that they will only live for a few years at best, are you seriously telling me that we should deny abortion in these tragic situations?
Also you talk about how abortion is anti-Christianity… well technically, so is birth control. And you know what birth control does? It prevents abortions from even occurring in the first place.
Yes abortion is tragic, but sometimes it has to be done, and even then, only as a last resort.
