Still hilarious to me (and frustrating as hell) that fandom wank 10-15 years ago was “oh, that character is too perfect. Special snowflake. Mary Sue. Give them some flaws to make them more realistic.”

and now it’s “that character isn’t pure enough. They have all these flaws. You must be a bad person if you like them.”

what the ever-living fuck, fandom

hmmmmm

hmmmmmmmmmm

@grimeclown Ah yes, my latest in a string of hero/villain ships and sympathetic villain faves going back since I was 12 – stemming from a passion for the idea that bad people, with the right opportunities for self-growth and support, can learn to be good.

None of those faves and ships were condemned the way Reylo is until this most recent swing in fandom politics.

edit: The REALLY funny thing is that I made this post before TFA came out. It was actually about the Steven Universe fandom.

Can we talk about how ott and frankly creepy that person’s response was? Like they just basically admitted they can’t or won’t engage with the actual post and instead was like “lol let’s see how problematique op is this tea is scalding!”

Jfc what a fucking creep yikes

So a porn blog with a BDSM fetish is judging Reylos now…it would be funny if it weren’t so sad tha someone can lack so much self awareness.
