Yeah most places have “Romeo and Juliet” laws, where an 18 year old can sleep with someone 1-3 years younger than them and not face charges. It’s common sense, no judge wants to ruin some 18 year old high school senior’s life because they were a teenager with hormones and slept with their 16 year old s/o that they’ve been dating for two years.
And those laws are just in place for having sex. Dating =/= sex.
i don’t think any of these antis realize that under the law, at least in the US, if you met your girlfriend or your boyfriend when you were both minors and then one of you becomes an adult before the other, your relationship isn’t suddenly illegal. there may or may not have been cases where 18 year olds dating 16-17 year olds were prosecuted but if it was, it was almost certainly motivated by racism and retaliation against an interracial couple daring to exist. it very often is about that.
