It legit pisses me off that feminists ignore the fact that circumcision happens all over the world in places where FGM happens too and it’s no cleaner nor humane when it’s getting done there too.
Any form of genital mutilation is bad and morally wrong and it happens to both genders whether it’s in a hospital or an unsanitary place. Stop acting like it’s a gendered issue. Stop elevating one gender over the other. Circumcision is not hygienic. That is a myth and it’s been long since debunked, along with all the other health myths. There’s a shit ton of sources in the notes about the facts of circumcision.
The people talking about it preventing masturbation are talking about when it become routine in North America. Dr. Kellogg proposed circumcision to stop boys from masturbating and to use acid on the clitorises of girls to prevent them from doing the same. Thankfully, the last one there didn’t catch on, but unfortunately MGM did which is why it’s so common in North America.
These are all very well-known facts so, no offense, but you might want to either investigate these things when you hear them or ask for more information instead of just assuming what you think is right.
