As someone who grew up with the phrase ‘Treat other people as you would like to be treated,’ it genuinely shocks me that Tumblr is incredibly open on its hatred for anything it considers as the enemy. Some men are sexist which means all men need to be punished. Some women don’t believe they’re oppressed which means they’re gender traitors. Some homosexuals are right-wing so that means it’s acceptable to be homophobic. Transgender people are supposedly upholding restrictive gender roles. Relationships with age gaps are paedophilia so it’s acceptable to send shippers death threats.

Whatever happened to common decency, man? Are we so focused on our wants and desires that we forget how to be kind to other people? If you advocate against bigotry but refuse to listen to different opinions, then what does that make you? If you refuse to change for the better then how will you expect the world to follow suit?
