I don’t like when people say they’re “on the right side of history”

you can’t know what people a hundred years from now will consider good or bad, or even if what you’re advocating for will even work

frankly, the people who use the phrase unironically come off as self-centered; a superiority complex and dickishness not required but frequently attached regardless

doesn’t help that the phrase (in the modern era, at least) apparently has its roots in fucking Marx
