You know I saw the haircut. I read the title. I could’ve made some assumptions but I decided to be fair. I clicked play. What followed was the exact smugfest I was expecting.
UGH I HATE THAT I KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THIS WAS GOING TO BE BEFORE I CLICKED IT
I’m an idiot. I was like, “Oh! Ukulele!” and clicked it, only to read the description as it was gearing up and thought…”I’m supposed to know from the title? 404..Steven Universe? Oh no wait. Abort. Abort.”
She also has a #MeToo interpretive dance on her channel if you’re interested
75% of victims of all violent crimes are men
Yeah, but who cares about that when you’re a paranoid ideologue.
I got twenty seconds in.
What “difference”, exactly? Making women feel more paranoid and making men feel collective guilt? Pissing off men and women with a nonsensical victimhood narrative?
I do like she’s getting reamed in the comments though, as she fucking deserves.
Ok so here is my personal female perspective:
I GET where she’s coming from in the sense that I too have been told these things my whole life (at least most of these things). Be careful walking around at night because someone might try to hurt you. Don’t go to a bar/club/party without friends; strength in numbers. Don’t leave your drink unattended because it could get drugged. Don’t wear revealing clothing unless you want to invite trouble….
However, most of it is GOOD ADVICE.
It’s as if these people think a Utopian society is achievable… as if there aren’t mental disorders that lead to violent behavior… as if things like poverty, stress, and depression don’t cause crime… as if all crime and violence is just the result of “violent men” and if we just teach them not to be violent the world will be cured.
Hate to break it to you, but a Utopia is not only impossible but would more than likely be a bad thing.
I don’t mean to suggest that women need to be paranoid and scared of going outside and living life, but you need to keep a good head on your shoulders and recognize that there is a possibility that bad things could happen.. not that you WILL get hurt but that there’s always a chance.
That goes for EVERYONE, not just women. Men can and DO get drugged and raped too. Men are actually MORE likely to be the victim of violent crime. Guess what ladies, you can get drugged by another woman!
There are good people and there are bad people. You should enjoy life and get out there and mingle but be smart and be aware of your surroundings and of the people around you. It isn’t victim blaming to tell someone who isn’t a victim to be careful.
