From the introduction to the Calvin and Hobbes collection. Bill Watterson admits that his art and comic strips were flawed! He experienced a lot of rejection and failure, and at one point lived with his parents, but he persisted and became the absolute legend that we know and love! Dobson is the antithesis to Watterson. He just gave up and whines about his failure instead of making himself better.
Idk if this is a suitable submission but I was reading this and wanted to share it with you. Dobson lacks this level of introspection and the ability to criticize himself.
”I’d say it makes a good submission. Advice from a successful and well-loved comic artist vs. Dobson’s “don’t try hard and take shortcuts” advice along with rejecting all criticism. And we’ve all seen how well that’s worked for him.” -THOAD
Didn’t Dobson basically reject Bill Watterson’s advice in general in one comic? The one where Bill basically refused any type of money from syndications?
Damn. I wasn’t too far off. More evidence to show how much of a dick Dobson is. (Also aren’t the heights super off? Like Hobbes is a bit too small?)
Don’t you know? This was after Calvin and Hobbes finished their run. Calvin’s in the second grade now and has a few more inches on him.
