Hot Take: The whole “false rape accusations don’t ruin men’s lives” thing only applies if said man is rich, white, straight and cis. If it’s a black man (especially a poor black man who isn’t a celebrity like Bill Cosby), a trans man, a gay man or a poor man, then their privilege isn’t their to protect them and it can very well end up ruining their lives.
Yeah, I saw this article basically saying that since Woody Allen still makes movies, and people still see them, rape accusations are harmless. My reaction was “He is not representative of the average dude.”
Funny how we let Hollywood warp our perceptions of reality.
Also historically false rape accusations were used by racist white women to get black men lynched. So yeah, if you think false rape accusations don’t matter, you might be unintentionally racist.
